Job Description

To produce pastries and breads for all outlets as directed by management.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Omni standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the resort.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper attire/uniform and name tag when working.
  • Responsible for production and plating of all pastries, including: measuring, mixing, blending, preparing, and cooking ingredients, and decorating cakes and pastries.
  • Control quality and consistency of all food served.
  • Ensure functions are completed one (1) hour prior to service times and BEO times.
  • Ensure all food supplies necessary for service are in appropriate supply on a timely basis.
  • Visually inspects, selects and uses only food items ideal cooking, in preparation of all menu items.
  • Ensure all equipment is clean and in working condition.
  • Regulates oven temperatures for cooking.
  • Maintain the highest quality and appearance of all foods sent from kitchen and make sure plates/buffet presentations are clean and appetizing.
  • Label and date all foods.
  • Solely responsible for maintaining clean work station. Make sure all work areas are properly cleaned at end of shift and at end of evening.
  • Performs any general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by supervisor.
  • Keep floors dry and clean to avoid slip/fall accidents.
  • Works well under pressure to meet production schedules and time lines for pastry needs.
  • Work cohesively with entire culinary staff as part of a team.
  • Maintain food preparation handling and correct storage standards.
  • Must be able to prioritize, organize work and follow through.
  • Understands follow and maintain all standardized recipes.
  • Maintain all coolers and freezers, prep area and equipment up to State of Texas Health Department codes at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

 

Qualifications

  • 1 year minimum pastry related experience is preferred but not required. Pastry related education is also preferred.
  • Must maintain current Texas Food Handler certification.
  • Must be able to perform job functions with minimal supervision.
  • Basic math skills needed to understand and implement recipes and measurements.
  • Ability to stoop, lift and or carry or otherwise move or push goods on a hand cart of moderate weight.
  • Ability to work standing up in a confined area for long periods of time.
