    Job Description

    Banquet Server is responsible for ensuring that all food and beverage service for functions in the banquet department are served according to standards.

    Responsibilities

    • High school diploma or equivalent.
    • Food and beverage experience.
    • Excellent customer service skills.
    • Pleasant and helpful personality.
    • Availability to include weekends and holidays & work back to back shifts when necessary
    • TIPS®  certification required  upon hiring.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    •  Set up for functions to include setting silverware, folding napkins, preparing drinks and setting buffets/breaks; all according to standards.
    • Service to include picking up food from designated area, carrying food/equipment to function location, serve and clear food tables.
    • Break down to include bussing tables, breakdown equipment that has been used, putting away dirty linen and returning equipment to proper storage area.
    • Responsibilities also include cleaning of service areas and organizing of storerooms.
    • Maintain a neat and professional appearance with required uniforms.
    • Prepping for next shift’s functions.

     

    HOTEL SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS:

    • To know all general information about the property and be able to accurately answer all guests questions.
    • To know layout of the conference center and all meeting room names and locations.
    • To have a working knowledge in reading and interpreting BEOs

     

    MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

    • Maintain open communication with management and other employees.
    • Be well organized and efficient.
    • Show initiative.
    • Respond to any reasonable task as assigned by supervisor or manager.
    • Assist in other departments as needed
    • Attend monthly departmental meetings

      

     

    TOOLS/EQUIPMENT:    Coffee maker/urn, toaster,  bus trays, dishware, silverware, glassware, queen-mary cart, telephone, pen/pencil, chaffers, linens.

     

    ENVIRONMENT:  Interior and exterior of hotel, restaurant, lounge and kitchen areas, with exposure to extreme temperatures; Exposure to Food and Beverage hazardous cleaning chemicals; Exposure to food items and beverages.
