Job Description

The main purpose of the Rooms Controller is to control the house the same day and short term. This person must  assure that overbooking in room categories is reconciles and that rooms are reserved as efficiently as possible. The objective is to promote operations and marketing goals of maximizing revenue and guest satisfaction.      


  • To be thoroughly acquainted with all check-in policies and procedures.


  • Ensure Select Guests and VIPS are assigned appropriately.


  • To be thoroughly acquainted with all check-out policies and procedures.


  • To be familiar with guest scenarios


  • To be familiar with all technical equipment related to the Front Desk.


  • Review group resumes and note information in Log Book on the appropriate day.


  • Review and clear all flags and mailboxes.


  • To be familiar with all hotel facilities.


  • Must have complete understanding of room type availability.


  • To be familiar with all hotel facilities.


  • Must have complete understanding of room type availability.


  • To be familiar with the inter-relationship between the different departments, especially Housekeeping and Room Service.


  • Understands and complete the Rooms Controller Checklist.


  • Ensure Duplicate Check is completed.


  • Must have full understanding of Select Guest Program


  • Must be able to train new Front Desk Associates


  • Manage all daily room changes


  • Understand the Reservations restrictions board.


  • Must be able to run desk in short staff situations


  • Must have complete understanding of blocking the house.


Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays. Candidate must have a knowledge of hotel guest rooms - layout and location. Prepare for and attend daily stand up and GEM meeting. Review arrivals and special requests.
