The Omni Charlottesville Hotel offers 208 beautifully appointed guestrooms and suites featuring panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, along with a full service restaurant and 12,000 square feet of meeting space. The Omni is located in the heart of downtown at the base of the downtown pedestrian mall. Our location offers a wide variety of local restaurants, pubs, entertainment venues, or even just to take a scenic walk and enjoy the culture of Charlottesville. There are numerous local historic sites that have played a unique role in American history which include: Monticello, the University of Virginia, Ash Lawn-Highland, Historic Court Square and Michie Tavern. Our Blue Ridge Parkway offers unmatched views and our very own downtown mall features daily entertainment at the four theaters which offer live music, movies and theatrical performances.

Job Description

Banquet Bartenders are responsible for extending five star service to each guest. . In addition to efficiently and accurately preparing and serving guest beverages during banquet functions, Banquet Bartenders also stock their bars according to the specifications of the particular event, as well as, break down the bar after the event. 


  • Stock and set up bar area according to event specifications and Omni standards.
  • Efficiently prepare and serve guest beverages, in accordance with Omni standards.
  • Understand and abide by the proper procedures for setting up and breaking down the bar.
  • Maintain familiarity with, and follow, all revenue and cash handling procedures.
  • Adhere to predefined drink service guidelines.
  • Follow proper procedures for responding to, and procuring, drink substitutions as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of products, drink recipes, and where to find relevant supplies.
  • Restock bar and glassware as needed.
  • Consistently follow rules for procuring beverages from banquet supply areas.
  • Report any need for housekeeping and/or repairs of banquet equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Must be familiar with all policies related to liquor liability laws– fully understand our obligation to safely serve our guests and utilize established guidelines for modifying/restricting alcohol consumption and/or notifying appropriate personnel of difficult situations.
  • Maintain an awareness of liquor costs and minimize waste, which may raise them.
  • Maintain an awareness of all functions, events and meetings taking place at any given time.
  • Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
  • Perform other duties assigned by management.


  • Must be 21 years or older (alcohol service)
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to regularly bend, stretch and reach
  • Previous hotel experience preferred
  • Previous bartending OR banquets experience required
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Valid Food Handler’s, Alcohol Awareness,  and TIPS Certified (or equivalent) are required
