Job Description

Omni PGA Frisco Resort is looking for a  Lead Mechanic to join our team.  The Omni Frisco PGA Resort will provide north Texas with 127,000 square feet of event space, 13 new food and beverage outlets, an extravagant spa and a full entertainment district. Featuring two championship 18-hole golf courses along with a third short course, we will provide incredible options for our guests and local community for dining, events, and entertainment.
 
The Lead mechanic is responsible for all golf course maintenance equipment repairs and preventative maintenance programs. The lead mechanic works directly with the Equipment Manager in developing maintenance standards, record keeping, inventories, developing and training subordinate technicians. In the absence of the Equipment Manager the Lead mechanic is responsible for management of the department.

Responsibilities

Equipment Maintenance & Repairs:

  • Supervise and perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, transport vehicles, tractors, utility vehicles, aerators, topdressers and sprayers.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair mechanical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain an organized repair schedule to ensure all equipment is operational for daily golf course operations.
  • Proficiency in grinding and sharpening reel and rotary units.

Equipment Inspections:

  • Conduct regular inspections of all golf course maintenance equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Ensure equipment is regularly serviced according to the manufacturer's recommendations and follow preventative maintenance schedules.

Inventory Management:

  • Oversee inventory of parts, tools, and supplies necessary for repairs and maintenance.
  • Order and maintain parts stock to ensure efficient repair operations.
  • Responsible for protecting company assets

Team Leadership & Training:

  • Supervise, mentor, and train subordinate technicians or maintenance staff, ensuring they are proficient in the proper use and maintenance of all tools and equipment.
  • Provide guidance on safety procedures, equipment operation, and basic troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for checking equipment on the golf course and work closely with Superintendents reviewing equipment performance on the golf course.
  • Prioritize equipment repairs and maintenance.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of repairs, maintenance schedules, and equipment performance.
  • Monitor and manage equipment warranty claims and ensure proper documentation for all maintenance and repairs.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Ensure that all repairs and maintenance work meet safety standards and complies with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols for both the team and equipment usage.
  • Ensure equipment maintenance area is kept clean and organized to provide a safe working environment for all associates.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or training in small engine repair or a related field is highly preferred.
  • Proven experience (5+ years) as a mechanic, with a focus on golf course or landscape equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems.
  • Ability to diagnose and repair a wide range of equipment, including turf maintenance machinery and vehicles.
  • Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with other team members.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) and work in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for extended periods during the repair and maintenance of equipment.
  • Vision requirements including close, distant and peripheral vision.

Work Enviornment:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
  • Work is primarily outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to mechanical parts, oils, lubricants, and equipment.
