Job Description

Job Summary

Pre-season work includes trail mowing, road maintenance, tree trimming and removal, and pre-season snowmaking equipment maintenance and testing.

 

Snowmakers work on the mountain to create a high quality snow product by using high pressured air and water that are mixed with a variety of equipment like fan guns, tower guns and land guns. This exciting and physically demanding job is essential to a successful start-up to the ski season and the team works hard to make the snow that everyone loves to ski.

The Snowmaker is responsible for the proper maintenance and care of the resort grounds and ski trails as directed by the Assistant Mountain Manager and Snow Making Supervisor

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

  • During pre-season, operate chainsaws, weed trimmers and other tree removal equipment in a safe manner.
  • During snowmaking season, operate all snowmaking equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Set up, break down and move snowmaking equipment around the mountain to expand trail count.
  • Ensure a high quality snow product throughout all weather conditions.
  • Operate all vehicles including snowmobiles and ATVs in a safe manner.
  • Perform basic snowmaking equipment maintenance.

 

Job Specifications

  • Competitive starting wage with higher wages based on past experience.
  • 12 hour day and night shifts available. Must be flexible with weekly schedule.
  • Temporary/ seasonal housing available.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational skills with ability to multi-task within a fast-paced environment.
  • Subject to long periods of walking and standing.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk up and down steep mountain terrain in a variety of winter weather conditions
  • Sets a standard by being to work on time and when scheduled.
  • Creates a team environment in order to ensure a quality product.
  • Provides constructive feedback to crew-members.
  • Works safety around all equipment including high-pressure air and water.
  • Safely operates snowmobiles and avoids open terrain when at all possible.
  • Reports any unsafe instances to a Supervisor.
  • Maintains a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Constantly remembers that they are an essential part of the mountain operation and respects other departments.
  • Demonstrates initiative and versatility.
  • Has a strong knowledge of the job and can effectively train others.
  • Mechanical experience and hydraulic knowledge are required.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours to include nights, weekends, and holidays.
