Opening in Fall 2025, Omni Fort Lauderdale will provide South Florida with 120,000 square feet of event space, new food and beverage options, a Natural Spring inspired full-service spa and entertainment pedestrian plaza featuring high-end shopping, amphitheater, charter boat docking and beautiful promenade. The new iconic landmark offers unforgettable views of the Atlantic paired with unrivalled convenience and intelligently designed meeting spaces. The hotel will be directly connected to the Broward County Convention Center, immediately adjacent to Port Everglades cruise terminal and less than two miles from Fort Lauderdale Airport.

 

Job Description

Be a part of the pre-opening team for the Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel!

 

Opening Fall 2025, the Omni Ft. Lauderdale Hotel is a 29-story hotel, located at 1950 Eisenhower Blvd, and connected directly to the Broward County Convention. The property offers 801 guest rooms and suites, multiple restaurants, a vibrant rooftop bar, a sprawling pool, spa, and fitness center. The hotel will also have over 120,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and event space, including a grand ballroom, junior ballroom, 25 breakout rooms and pre-function meeting space with waterfront views.

 

To ensure a safe, efficient, well-maintained hotel environment while providing maintenance services to guests in a courteous, professional, and engaging manner.   

Responsibilities

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Read the blueprints, drawings, and sketches.
  • Take measurements and calculate the size and amount of material needed.
  • Install and repair fixtures including door frames, door handles, knobs, peep holes, door closers, hinges, and locks.
  • Build/assemble and install wood framing, doors, furniture, cabinets, trim, shelving, and drywall using raw materials or pre-constructed items in designated areas.
  • Maintain and repair existing woodwork, trim, furniture and carpet in guest rooms and public areas including mill work.
  • Maintain inventory of carpentry materials and supplies and communicate when replenishment is needed.
  • Receive directions from engineering management on daily assignments or projects and complete within the time and manner specified or in accordance with hotel needs.
  • Complete appropriate documents and logs for work assigned daily.
  • Have a thorough understanding of Omni's fire alarm procedures and emergency evacuation. 
  • Must be familiar with Omni's systems and procedures
  • Respond to all requests.
  • Assist engineers and mechanics as needed with repairs.
  • Keep all work areas clean.

Qualifications

 

Qualifications

  • Previous carpentry maintenance experience required; hotel experience preferred.
  • Prior experience with installing carpet and pad, decking, and flooring.
  • Prior experience with framing, cabinetry, formica and modular office areas required.
  • Understanding carpentry techniques and methods from rough to finish.
  • Must have technical knowledge of various hand and power tools associated with carpentry.
  • Must be able to work with stains, lacquers, varnishes, epoxy and Bondo.
  • Must be willing to work based on business and occupancy levels.  
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime.  
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with the hotel guests.  
  • Move, bend, lift, carry, crawl, squat, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.  
  • Must work indoors and outdoors including during extreme weather conditions. 
  • May be asked to be part of “ride-out” crew during severe weather events.
  • Must be able to work using ladders, scissors, and aerial lifts. 

 

ENVIRONMENT & POSITION ANALYSIS:

  • Move, bend, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, walk or sit for an extended period or for an entire work shift.  Requires repetitive motion, including the use of handheld and powered tools.

 

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT:

  • Hardware and tools, ladder, telephone, pen/pencil, photo-copying machine and push to talk radio
