Job Description

To ensure that all food and beverage items received meet the approved criteria established by the hotel Food and Beverage/Purchasing Departments.  Conducts a thorough, but prompt, inspection of every delivery to ascertain proper specification factors to determine acceptability.  To maintain daily role/function of the food, beverage and general storerooms

Responsibilities

  • Check shipment by comparing it with Daily Order Sheet and invoice to ensure that what we are receiving is what was ordered (quantity, price, quality state, size, count, weight tolerance and acceptable expiration date).
  • Report any shipment discrepancies and note on the invoice so proper payment/credits are processed.
  • If shipment is correct, sign and date driver's and hotel copies of invoice. Receive all invoices daily in Birchstreet.
  • If shipment is received with delivery slip or memo invoice, follow same procedure and process accordingly for payment
  • Submit daily receiving report to Purchasing for outstanding deliveries.
  • Directs the traffic of all incoming items until they have been properly dated, labeled or tagged. The labeling procedure is to be done by the Receiving Clerk, Storeroom Manager or Purchasing Manager only.  All items will be labeled with date received.
  • Labels all incoming perishable items with date, and stocks according to FIFO 
  • Conduct random spot-checks of all perishable items for proper storing and packaging to guard against quality loss due to over-exposure to storage temperatures, improper rotation, etc.
  • Assists and directs inventory documents along with the Purchasing Manager as necessary.
  • Assists Storeroom Clerks in filling requisitions and sanitation maintenance daily.
  • Assist in conducting End-Of-Month Physical Inventory.
  • Receive all incoming packages as needed and log them as guest, internal or banquet packages.
  • Responsible for proper receiving, storing and issuing of all food and beverage products in the food, beverage and general storerooms under the guidance of the storeroom manager.
  • Inspect and unpack all merchandise received, and stocks/stores it.
  • Assists Purchasing manager in keeping the storeroom properly organized by sorting by group as stated by the Purchasing manager.
  • Strictly adheres to the operating hours of the storerooms.
  • Keep all unauthorized persons "off premises"; check requisitions for proper authorization.
  • Issues all storeroom requisitions for food and beverage outlets, and ensures they are closed in Birchstreet daily.
  • Responsible for the cleaning of all storerooms.
  • To follow/adhere to Omni Hotels operating procedures and local health regulations.
  • Start a list for out of stocks/goods not received "items" so that follow-up can be made.
  • Verify that no requisitions are left open (all requisitions should be completed and closed out).
  • Check and lock all coolers/storeroom doors before departure at end-of-day.
  • Perform any other duties as required by management

 

Qualifications

  • Experience in purchasing/receiving and/or previous hotel experience preferred.
  • Ability to read requisitions and complete orders as requested. Knowledge of Birchstreet preferred.
  • Requires frequent bending, reaching overhead and squatting.  Lift, carry, and place objects weighing up to 75 lbs without assistance and 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Ability to Push/pull objects weighing up to 75 lbs without assistance.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including early morning hours, holidays and weekends
