Job Description

The Omni PGA Frisco Golf Club is seeking a Golf Course Chemical Application Technician. The Application Technician will report to the Managing Superintendent of Golf Courses and Grounds and will have a direct relationship with the Application Foreman. The Chemical Application Technician supports the Golf Course Superintendent and Application Foreman in executing safe, effective, and efficient applications of fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides, and insecticides. This individual plays a key role in ensuring products are applied correctly and in compliance with all regulatory standards, while also maintaining high standards of cleanliness and organization in designated work areas. 

 

The position will represent Omni Hotels and Resorts, its partners and related facilities in the utmost professional manner. These facilities include Fields Ranch East, West, Short Course, Practice Facilities and all other areas encompassing the 600-acre facility.

 

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of departmental standards by staying familiar with current golf course maintenance practices and technologies.
  • Assist in preparation and logistical support for major golf championships and daily agronomic tasks under the guidance of course superintendents or senior staff.
  • Follow established safety procedures and actively participate in safety training and programs.
  • Apply fertilizers, insecticides, herbicides, and fungicides using boom sprayers, backpack sprayers, hose end sprayers, or equipment as directed.
  • Calibrate and maintain proper calibration of spray and spread equipment.
  • Assist in the execution of both current and long-term chemical treatment plans, as outlined by superintendents.
  • Record daily chemical applications and help track inventory levels for supplies and products.
  • Support routine maintenance of spray-related equipment and promptly report issues to leadership.
  • Read and follow directions on product labels and MSDS sheets; ask for clarification when needed.
  • Keep chemical storage and mixing areas clean and organized, supporting compliance with all regulations.
  • Conduct basic inspections of spray equipment and report concerns to supervisory staff.
  • Operate other maintenance equipment effectively and safely as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Possession of a current Texas State Chemical Applicator License preferred; must be able to obtain and maintain license within six (6) months of hire.
  • Fundamental math skills required, including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide to accurately calculate product quantities based on specified application rates or mixing instructions.
  • Willingness to support and represent the facility’s mission, vision, and standards.
  • Able to follow clear, detailed instructions and communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Demonstrates interest in turf management and commitment to learning through hands-on experience.
  • Adheres to all safety guidelines and always wears required PPE.
  • Dependable, organized, and motivated to contribute to team success.
  • Basic understanding of chemical handling or willingness to be trained and certified if required.

 

Education and Experience:

High school education preferred with college education in a related field a plus and or up to one-year related experience and/or training in course operations and the use of pesticides and fertilizers; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
