Located in the heart of downtown Tempe, our hotel offers cutting-edge amenities and requires expert maintenance support to sustain our elevated guest experience. The Maintenance Engineer will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing hotel facilities—including HVAC systems, kitchen equipment, plumbing, and electrical systems—to ensure optimal performance and guest satisfaction.

We’re looking for a technician with a background in HVAC-R, mechanical systems, or commercial kitchen equipment, and someone comfortable working with building automation systems (BAS/BCS), central plant operations, and high-voltage electrical components. This is a hands-on role ideal for professionals with hotel, commercial building, or facilities experience.

This will be a full-time position, with the majority of hours expected during the 2nd shift.

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on HVAC systems, mechanical equipment, kitchen appliances, plumbing, and electrical infrastructure

  • Maintain and troubleshoot central plant operations, including boilers, chillers, and water treatment systems

  • Read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and equipment manuals

  • Operate and maintain building automation systems (BAS/BCS) to monitor and control environmental systems

  • Conduct daily equipment checks and log performance metrics for pumps, motors, cooling towers, and HVAC units

  • Perform electrical repairs and diagnostics across low-voltage and 3-phase high voltage systems

  • Manage and repair commercial plumbing systems, including pumps, valves, and fixtures

  • Respond to guest room maintenance requests and ensure timely and professional resolution

  • Track inventory and assist in ordering parts and supplies using purchase orders

  • Maintain up-to-date records, including refrigerant logs, water quality reports, and PM checklists

  • Follow all safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout, HAZCOM, Bloodborne Pathogens, etc.)

  • Support compliance with hotel emergency systems, including fire panels and evacuation plans

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment at all times

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience in one or more of the following:

    • HVAC-R systems (repair, maintenance, and diagnostics)

    • Mechanical systems (pumps, motors, belts, drives)

    • Commercial kitchen equipment (dish machines, fryers, ovens)

  • Familiarity with BAS/BCS software platforms

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and blueprints

  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, including low voltage and 3-phase high voltage

  • Experience operating or supporting central plant systems and water treatment

  • Strong troubleshooting skills in both electrical and mechanical applications

  • Experience with commercial plumbing systems and related components

  • EPA Universal Certification preferred (Refrigerant Handling)

  • Additional trade certifications or manufacturer training a plus

  • Prior experience in hotel, resort, or commercial facility maintenance strongly preferred

  • Proficient with CMMS systems (Synergy preferred)

  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs, work at heights, climb ladders, and access tight spaces

  • Availability to work weekends, holidays, and varied shifts as needed

*This position is a full-time, on-site position with no work from home flexibility.
