Job Description

 

No Job Description for a position can possibly include all duties which may be requested by guests or required by the hotel.  The objective of all positions is to effectively provide the services personally, or to immediately refer requests to the appropriate department manager.  The following is a summary of the major responsibilities of the position.

 

POSITION TITLE:          Catering and Conference Services Manager

DEPARTMENT:                 Sales & Marketing

REPORTS TO:                   Director of Catering and Conference Services

                                                                                                                                                                                                                               

BASIC FUNCTION:        The Catering and Conference Services Manager will be responsible for ensuring activities and functions for booked affairs are in compliance with property policy while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.  Maintaining optimum guest satisfaction and meeting or exceeding overall profitability objectives.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Coordinate all aspects of activities for conference attendees as assigned by the Director of Catering & Convention Services and Conference Services Managers.
  • Proactively plan, detail, and execute catering bookings to include weddings and local/social events
  • Exceed all individual food & beverage revenue goals.
  • Develop an individual plan to exceed revenue goals.
  • Coordinate meeting space, audio visual, culinary, beverage, outside rentals/vendors, and all event-related specifics through BEOs and resumes. Upsell to maximize the revenues in each of these areas.
  • Work with F&B and Catering teams to create profitable menus.
  • Conduct site inspections, planning meetings, conference calls, and pre- and post-event meetings when necessary.
  • Serve as the main liaison between the resort and client; proactively ask questions and communicate information where necessary. Take accountability for the group’s entire stay at the resort.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Knowledge, Training, & Work Experience)

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • College degree and related work experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of a hotel or resort.
  • 2– 5 years previous experience in the hospitality industry, preferably in catering or conference services.
  • Highly developed communication and sales skills.
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Excel and able to learn Delphi FDC.
