Job Description

Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU is seeking a versatile Prep Cook. The Prep Cook is a key player in the culinary team at Omni Tempe Hotel at ASU, providing support across all kitchens, including banquets and outlets. This role focuses on food preparation and ensures that ingredients are ready for service, while also stepping in to assist on the line or various stations as needed. The ideal candidate will thrive in an elevated environment, contributing to high-volume banquet operations and maintaining the high standards of Omni Hotels & Resorts.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare ingredients and perform basic cooking tasks for banquet and outlet kitchens, ensuring all components are ready for service.
  • Assist in setting up and stocking stations with necessary supplies for daily operations.
  • Support all kitchen stations as needed, including hot and cold lines, grill, and other sections during peak periods.
  • Ensure that food is prepared in accordance with recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  • Assist in inventory management by ensuring that prep areas are adequately stocked and notifying supervisors of shortages.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to ensure smooth operations, particularly during high-volume events and banquets.
  • Follow food safety procedures and hotel policies to ensure a safe and efficient working environment.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years of culinary experience, preferably in a hotel or high-volume banquet setting.
  • Knowledge of basic cooking techniques and kitchen equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Flexibility to assist in multiple kitchen areas as needed, including prep work, line cooking, and various stations.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff.
  • Ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy items up to 50 lbs.
  • Flexibility in scheduling, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Arizona food handlers certified.

 

*This position is a full-time, on-site position with no work from home flexibility.
